The Mysterious World of the Carrot Bag

How to use a carrot bag with a metal tip:
Some people like the hand comfort of a carrot bag and the contol of a metal tip.
How do you do this?

You’ll need to strain your paste or have finely sifted henna powder for your metal tip, or you’ll be picking out clogs all the time.  Kenzi showed me a great paste straining technique to keep your tips clog-free.  That straining technique is here:  de-chunking your henna paste: http://www.sphosting.com/reverndbunny/kenzistrain.html

When your paste is ready, prepare your cone:
Cut ½ “ off your carrot bag tip:

Put the metal tip in the carrot bag and shove it down. Give it a firm push with a chopstick so it sits tight.  Gently heat the plastic with a match until the excess plastic heat shrinks back tight around the tip.

Put two soupspoons of paste into the carrot bag.  The 00 line is small, and you don’t have to squeeze hard to make the line.

The double line tip makes parallel which are useful for bracelets, but the double tip takes practice to get perfect. Touch the tip right to the skin, and use the gentlest possible squeeze.  You can fix imperfect places with a toothpick.

Mehandi sells cake decorating tips that fit carrot bags. They're high quality, fit perfectly, and don't rust.  The sizes and shapes are:
00: very fine, like a #3 jac tip

Double: makes 2 little lines
Triple: makes 3 little lines.
