Ancient Sunrise ® CMC Powder
Ancient Sunrise ®
food grade carboxymethyl cellulose
The texture of indigo paste is more difficult to handle than henna paste, and can be a nuisance when dyeing your hair.
If you add CMC powder, the texture is much easier to work with!
CMC is the abbreviation of carboxymethyl cellulose, a product of cornstarch, often used as a thickener in salad dressings.
It makes salad dressings thick and creamy instead of runny. It will help smoothe out your indigo paste!

Put your dry indigo powder into a bowl, and add in the dry CMC powder.
One packet of CMC powder will thicken 100g of indigo.
Stir the dry indigo and CMC powders together.
The CMC powder must be completely dispersed into the indigo powder, or it will form thick lumps that cannot be stirred out.
Add water to the indigo and CMC mix and stir until the mix is thick and creamy.
CMC powder will make your indigo mix more manageable, and will help prevent little trickles of indigo water from separating and running down your neck.
