Loc Ties

These are designed for the unique demands of heavy, abundant hair: braids, locks, dreads, and sisterlocks, or even just masses of glorious thick hair! These can bundle and lift your most awesome hair!

Loc Ties

Scupt and adorn your hair with these loc ties!  These loc ties are Spellstone designs by Alex Morgan, and are hand carved of domestic water buffalo horn.

Each amber loc tie is uniquely streaked with color because it is made of natural red water buffalo horn. No two are identical, because the water buffaloes grew them that way!  The black horn ties are glossy black, from black water buffaloes.

The loc ties are about 4 1/2" wide, and arch about 1 1/2" high, about depending on design.  They come with a long elastic cord that you can adjust to exactly fit your locks.  Each one has a blessing implicit in the design.

If the tie is too long, adjust the tie to your locks!

Try out the tie, wrapping the elastic cord one or more times around your locs, in whatever way you want to contain them.  If the cord is too long, you can shorten it.  Cut off the knot.  Cut off as much cord as you need to refit.   .  Rethread the toggle, and tie the knot. If you're not sure how much to cut off, only cut a little at a time, tie, try it on, and repeat until the length is right Trim the ends of the cord cord after you have pulled the knot tight.

Water buffaloes are domestic farm animals across Asia.  They are loved as a working member of the family and  valued as a tractor or family car.  Water buffalos are never killed or harmed to just harvest their horns.  When a farmer's water buffalo dies at the end of a long and productive life, all parts, including the horns, are harvested and put to good use so nothing is ever wasted.
About Water Buffalo Horn
  Water Buffalo from Viet Nam

In the Odyssey, polished horn is symbolic: true dreams and visions pass through gates of polished horn  (book 19, lines 560-569)
Stranger, dreams verily are baffling and unclear of meaning, and in no wise do they find fulfilment in all things for men. For two are the gates of shadowy dreams, and one is fashioned of horn and one of ivory. Those dreams that pass through the gate of sawn ivory deceive men, bringing words that find no fulfilment. But those that come forth through the gate of polished horn bring true issues to pass, when any mortal sees them.
