Ancient Sunrise ® Laboratory Certified Henna

For the first time, you can buy henna and know for certain what the dye content is and that it is free of contaminants, chemicals, and adulterants.

Why is this important? If you are allergic to chemical dyes, if you are pregnant, recovering from cancer, or simply very concerned about your health, your physician has probably already recommended that you stop using chemical hair dyes and avoid all sources of toxins, chemicals and pesticides.

At present, there is no laboratory testing of and standard for what’s in a box labeled "henna". “Pure, natural, organic, and top quality" are merchandising statements. They are NOT scientific statements. Only a laboratory assay will tell you what the lawsone content is in henna, the pesticide levels, and what additives or contaminants are in that henna. Ancient Sunrise® hennas are all certified by an independent laboratory, so you'll know exactly what you're getting.

Henna is an agricultural product and it is not possible for the processed powder to be completely uniform: milling conditions, storage conditions, and shipping conditions will make a difference. Even if it were possible for a factory to completely randomize henna leaves, there would still be variations when the henna powder reaches the consumer. A batch which has been tested may not be assumed to be the same as an untested product.

Ancient Sunrise ® Rajasthani Twilight, batch # 080111, laboratory certified at 2.9% lawsone content, and to be completely free of lead, adulterants, contaminanats and pesticides! This is our closest henna to Celebration. The texture is silky, creamy in your hair, and fine enough for delicate body art. Our tests show that it does a wonderful job of covering gray in brunette and black hair. It really is a lovely henna. When you first mix up Twilight, you might hear gritting. This is not sand! Laboratory microscopy shows that Twilight has NO sand, but does have fragments of calcium oxalate crystals. Calcium oxalate is naturally produced by some henna plants. Spinach, kiwi fruit and tea leaves also produce calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate is natural and harmless in henna paste, and it may correlate with higher dye content henna. The calcium oxalate dissolves in lemon juice, and rinses right out. If you use water or tea to mix your henna, you may have to rinse your hair more than once. Ancient Sunrise® Jasmine Henna for Delicate Hair Batch#102611HA is certified by Alkemists Pharmaceuticals to be 100% pure henna, with 0.7% natural lawsone content. It is free of pesticides, adulterants and lead. You can easily rinse this henna from fragile, damaged, or chemically processed hair. It is very gentle for your delicate hair. If you use Ancient Sunrise® Jasmine Henna for Delicate Hair regularly, the color will build up, and your hair will gradually become stronger and healthier. Ancient Sunrise® Jasmine Henna stains a soft henna color with a lovely rose undertone. This henna will blend gray into the rest of your hair, but will not cover gray as well as the higher dye content hennas. This is our most finely sifted henna.
