The Functions of Childbirth and Postpartum Henna Traditions
Red palms have been associated with women’s fertility for at least 9000 years. Women hennaed their hands for love and fertility through the Bronze Age along the northeastern coast of the Mediterranean. Women hennaed their hands and feet to drive away the “Evil Eye” that could make her barren, and to avert all the sorrows and catastrophes that life might bring. Women hennaed when they were betrothed, married, pregnant, just at birth, and in the weeks after giving birth.

Because of my allergies - fragrance,chrome, nickel, cobalt - I now use organic shampoo and hadn’t had any color for one year and a half because my scalp was itching with the chemical products. I was so happy to find at least Henna to change my hair color.I just cut my hair so there are no more traces of the bleaching (just 2 cm). I’m medium blond and some hair dressers say I’m ash blond.

Henna for Hair 101: What’s the Difference Between These Plant Dye Powders?
Henna varies in dye content, sift, and tone. It is affected by region in which I grows, and yearly weather conditions which cause the natural dye concentration to be higher or lower. If it helps, think of henna like wine grapes. Weather and regions produce variation in crop and quality. As with grapes, there can be multiple varieties of henna plant, leading to qualitative differences in the resulting color.
